About this programme:

The RoundTable accredited certified mediation training programme offers you the opportunity totrain as a mediator. Assessment:

Assessment occurs during the training days on understanding, participationand evidence throughrole play of acquired skills.In addition, learners will engage in a continuous cycle of self-observation and self-evaluation. Learners are required to complete a ConflictAssignment (2500words) .This assignment is evaluated by the trainers and is used to assess participants’ integrationof skills and knowledge throughout the training.To become aCertified mediatorwith the Mediators’ Institute of Ireland, participants must goforward for certification.This certification is a videoed assessment where the participantdemonstrates the core mediation skills through role-play of a simulatedworkplaceconflict.Dates: 16th & 17th December 2020

Lead Trainer: 

Bernadette Barry-Murray  

Ber is an advanced mediator with the Mediators Institute of Ireland and the International Mediators Institute, with 20 years’ experience working as mediator, having qualified in 2000. She has mediated complex disputes nationally and internationally, assisting those who are party to the mediation in arriving at a resolution.  The breadth of mediations undertaken, includes workplace, family, commercial, education, medical, financial, succession and land disputes.  

Ber is a member of Council of the Mediators Institute Ireland, and is the family sector representative and on the accreditation committee.   

In addition to being a Mediator, she holds a master’s degree in education and a law degree. She has trained mediators since 2004 at certified level; for the family sector and has trained and supervised mediators to become practicing mediators.  She delivers a practical applied programme Click here for more information on Ber’s experience.  

Guest Speaker:   Siun Kearney 

Siun is a mediation and training consultant to Round Table Mediation & Training and is involved in the preparation and presentation of training programmes,.   Siun has presented this training since 1997, updated annually, and has over twenty years experience at operational and management levels in the mediation and training field.   This experience informs the training in an experiential manner. Siun has contributed to mediation training programmes in UCC, UCD, The Law Society of Ireland, the Equality Authority the Juvenile Justice Programme and the Family Mediation Service.    Siun has presented workshops at Mediation conferences at home and abroad. 

Qualifications/biog: 

  • Siun a Practitioner Member of MII 
  • Holds the academic qualifications :  M.Soc.Sc.,CQSW., LLB.    
  • She is an MII panel Mediator under the Civil Liabilities and Courts Act 2004 
  • A member of the Cork Family Lawyers Association and CIPD.
